Meet Nicholas

Nicholas has a strong belief in working with his local community, which aligns perfectly with Washington Financial’s goal of putting client and community first. He has a unique background as a former company executive, giving him an understanding of today’s business issues and the crucial need for wealth management. Nicholas knew Washington Financial was a great place to work when he found out they give paid time off for community days.

Nicholas grew up outside Claysville, PA where he graduated from Washington & Jefferson College with Honors majoring in Accounting. He previously worked as a Chief Financial Officer and Controller of privately held companies where he led management of finance, HR, and IT departments. He began his career with the Accounting firm Deloitte & Touche.

Nicholas is married to his high school sweetheart and lives in Washington, PA with his sons Brice and Tucker. They are very active with youth sports in the community where he serves as a head baseball and soccer coach. He also serves as Vice President of Trinity Youth Baseball. He is also active in his church where he served as Treasurer and serves on the Board of Directors of the Washington County Transportation Authority.

Favorite Food:

I enjoy cooking and trying new things. My favorite food is homemade lasagna which was a passed down recipe from my mom. I’m not the only one who likes it, I take requests for it for holidays.

Best piece of financial advice I received:

Don’t be the guy with a big hat and no cattle.

Favorite Quote:

Sometimes later, becomes never

If I could meet anyone, past or present, it would be:

My Nunno. I remember when he passed away and my cousin and I were exposed to his wealth and estate. He was a school teacher and principal and he was able to achieve wealth by diligent saving. This started my interest in personal finances.

Favorite book:

Shoe Dog. It is an autobiography by Phil Knight who started Nike. He has a really interesting life story. It shows what risk taking and hard work can achieve.

What motivates me:

Showing my children a strong work ethic and values.

Favorite holiday:

Christmas Eve. My wife and I were born two hours apart on Christmas Eve. She was born in the Washington Hospital and I was born in St. Clair Hospital. This has turned into a really big day in our house with our young children and our birthdays. My oldest son did not understand why his parents were opening gifts a day earlier than the big day and he wasn’t allowed to open anything.

Something on my bucket list:

One of my colleagues at Deloitte told me that she would go with her family on road trips every Summer and they visited all 50 states together. I have a high regard for that person and her values and how she handled herself. From that moment, I knew when I had a family we needed to do those things. I’m always looking for ideas for things to do in each state. So please give me ideas.

Place I’d most like to visit:

Hawaii.

My biggest accomplishment:

Raising my two children with my wife.
